10 Cutest Cat Breeds in the World
Maine Coons are like the giants of the cat world. I mean, seriously, they're huge. Males can reach up to 25 lb (over 11 kg) in weight, and they can grow to a length of around 48 in (120 cm) when they are adults. Owning a Maine Coon is like owning a (very furry) little lion. They are officially the largest breed of domestic cat, and given that they do have such long fur, they take some real looking after. However, it's not a bad thing. They're affectionate, chatty and loyal - yet still quite independent. In addition to this, no one can really deny how magnificent they look. They say that cats rule their households - if the cat's a Maine Coon, quite frankly, I wouldn't be one to argue.
Appearance wise, Birman cats look very similar to the Ragdoll breed that we're probably more familiar with. They also look a little like Siamese cats, but with long fur. Who knew it would be so difficult to differentiate between three different breeds of cat? Originally from Burma, Birman cats have beautiful, mesmerising, piercing blue eyes. Their fur is long, cream coloured and fluffy, and their ears, faces and tails are dark brown in colour. Kittens and adult Birman cats are equally as cute as each other - if I ever met one of these adorable balls of fur, there's no way I'd be going home without it!
